As the Toronto Blue Jays work on improving their roster for 2026, they are also adding to their coaching staff.
The Blue Jays hired former catcher Drew Butera to their major-league staff, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reported on Tuesday.
Butera spent the last two seasons as a catching instructor with the Chicago White Sox and had been of interest to the Toronto in the past, per Davidi.
A 12-year MLB veteran, Butera spent time with Minnesota, Kansas City, Colorado and both Los Angeles-based clubs. He played in 553 career games, hitting 19 home runs with a .542 OPS.
The 42-year-old was a member of the Royals' World Series-winning club in 2015.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters Tuesday at the Winter Meetings in Orlando that the team had finalized its 2026 coaching staff with two external additions and one internal promotion, which will be announced at a later date.
