The Toronto Blue Jays have signed infielders Tyler White and Richard Urena as well as outfielder Forrest Wall to minor-league contracts with invites to major-league spring training.
White, 30, returns to North America after playing in Korea’s KBO in 2020, where he only suited up in nine games. In 256 contests over four MLB seasons with the Houston Astros and Los Angeles Dodgers from 2016-19, he hit .236/.315/.409 with 26 home runs and 103 RBIs.
Urena returns to the Blue Jays after spending the 2020 season with the Baltimore Orioles. He did not see any MLB action in the pandemic-shortened season but hit .243 in 30 games for Toronto in 2019.
Wall was acquired by the Blue Jays in a 2018 trade with the Colorado Rockies. The 25-year-old spent the majority of the 2019 campaign with double-A New Hampshire but did appear in 14 games with triple-A Buffalo. In 123 minor-league games that season, he hit .268/.351/.422 with 30 doubles and 14 stolen bases.
The 25-year-old batted .304 in 14 spring training games for the Blue Jays last season and was invited to Summer Camp at Rogers Centre before spending the regular season at the club’s alternate training site in Rochester, N.Y.
