Shane Bieber's rehab will continue this week with the Buffalo Bisons.
Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters Monday that Bieber will pitch again on Saturday with triple-A Buffalo when the club travels to take on the Worcester Red Sox, per Sportsnet's Shi Davidi.
After the Blue Jays acquired Bieber at the trade deadline, the former Cy Young winner made his organizational debut on Sunday with the Bisons, striking out six over five innings of work while throwing 62 pitches.
Bieber has spent 2025 recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Schneider added that the expectation is that Bieber will have one more rehab appearance after Saturday's outing before the team decides on next steps.
In addition to the updates on Bieber, Schneider shared the latest on a handful of other injured Blue Jays.
Second baseman Andrés Giménez will begin a rehab assignment of his own on Tuesday with Buffalo. The 26-year-old has been out since July 4 with a left ankle sprain.
For the season, Giménez is slashing .218/.300/.322 with five home runs and 10 stolen bases while playing his usual excellent defence.
George Springer, who is currently on the injured list with a concussion, is also expected to join the Bisons in the coming days. He will either play on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on how he feels.
Springer suffered the concussion in the ninth inning of last Monday's loss to the Baltimore Orioles when he was hit in the head by a pitch. The 35-year-old leads the Blue Jays with 18 home runs this season.
Alek Manoah will also continue his rehab this week as he works his way back from UCL surgery. The 27-year-old will start for double-A New Hampshire on Thursday. He last threw a simulated game at Toronto's spring training complex in Dunedin, working up to 69 pitches.
Finally, Schneider provided an update on Anthony Santander, according to Sportsnet's Hazel Mae, saying that Santander feels 70 per cent better than he did last week and could potentially start swinging a bat next week.
