Bo Bichette's return to the starting lineup will wait at least another day.
The Toronto Blue Jays shortstop will begin Thursday's contest against the New York Yankees on the bench with knee discomfort for a fourth consecutive game.
Bichette completed a full pre-game workout and will be available to pinch hit, manager John Schneider said ahead of first pitch.
The 27-year-old has yet to appear in the four-game series against the Blue Jays' division rivals. Ernie Clement will take his spot at short once again.
Bichette is enjoying a solid bounce-back year after he was limited to just 81 games last season. In 83 games this year, the 27-year-old is slashing .272/.311/.427 with 11 home runs, 49 RBIs and 97 hits — the fifth-most in the American League.
Andrés Giménez (jammed ankle) is also out of the starting lineup after he was removed in the ninth inning of Wednesday's game. Schneider announced he is available off the bench if needed.
