The Toronto Blue Jays have selected infielder Breyvic Valera to the majors and he will be active for Sunday’s doubleheader against the Texas Rangers, the team announced.
Toronto also optioned outfielder Jonathan Davis to triple-A Buffalo and appointed him as the 27th player for Sunday’s doubleheader.
Valera appeared in five major-league games with the Blue Jays back in 2019, recording four hits and three RBIs with one home run. The 27-year-old has a .313 batting average with an .866 OPS, 28 RBIs and three homers.
In another roster move, the Blue Jays designated left-hander Nick Allgeyer for assignment.
The first game of the doubleheader between Toronto and Texas is scheduled for 1:07 p.m. ET on Sportsnet and SN Now.
