An intriguing prospect is headed up to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Outfielder Yohendrick Pinango was called up to the MLB team on Saturday while Nathan Lukes was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain, the team announced.
Pinango, 23, has appeared in 22 games with the triple-A Buffalo Bisons this season, hitting three home runs with 13 RBIs and an .858 OPS. He is the team's 10th-ranked prospect, per MLB Pipeline.
Lukes left Friday's series opener against the Cleveland Guardians in the bottom of the first after hitting a leadoff double. He appeared to tweak something while on his way to second base.
He had been one of Toronto's hottest hitters of late. After Friday's double, the 31-year-old had 11 hits in his last 21 at-bats.
Lukes slashed .255/.323/.407 with 12 homers and 65 RBIs in 135 games last season.
Toronto is already down outfielder Addison Barger and designated hitter George Springer, who continue to work their way back from early-season injuries.
The Blue Jays' series against the Guardians continues Saturday with first pitch set for 3 p.m. ET/noon PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
