Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Carl Edwards Jr. was forced to leave Tuesday's contest in the seventh inning with an apparent injury.

Edwards summoned for a trainer after throwing only five pitches, his last one bounced in the dirt. He recorded one out and had come into the game after Anthony Castro struggled to start the inning, allowing two earned runs, two walks and throwing two wild pitches while recording only one out.

Edwards signed as a free agent by the Blue Jays in mid-May and has made six appearances for the club. He entered play Tuesday with a 7.20 ERA in five innings of work.

Left-hander Tim Mayza replaced Edwards in the game and recorded the final out of the inning.
