The Toronto Blue Jays have added some outfield depth.
The Blue Jays claimed Rudy Martin Jr. from the Baltimore Orioles, the team announced on Thursday.
In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays transferred infielder/outfielder Addison Barger to the 60-day injured list.
Martin will be assigned to the triple-A Buffalo Bisons.
The 30-year-old has posted a .284 average, .414 OBP and .855 OPS with eight home runs between double-A and triple-A in 2026.
Martin is known for his speed, having 33 stolen bases on the season and 227 in his minor league career.
Martin was designated for assignment by the Orioles on July 20, just days after the team acquired him from the Kansas City Royals.
He was a 25th-round draft pick by the Kansas City Royals in 2014.
He has not reached the major leagues, bouncing between minor-league levels since being drafted.
Barger was shut down in late June with a stress fracture in his back.
Barger has appeared in only nine games this season due to multiple injuries. He initially went down with an ankle injury in April, but after returning for two games in early May, he suffered an elbow injury and hasn't played since.
Last season Barger broke out in a big way, hitting 21 home runs. But this season, he has just one hit in nine games.
