The outcome of the season series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago Cubs will have to wait.
Sunday's rubber match of a three-game set was postponed to Aug. 6 due to inclement weather, the teams announced.
The Blue Jays and Cubs split the first two games, with Chicago rolling to a 16-2 win on Friday before Toronto bounced back with an 8-6 comeback victory on Saturday.
Dylan Cease was set to get the start for Toronto. It is unclear how the postponement will change the team's rotation plan.
However, it does provide a much-needed rest day for the bullpen after Blue Jays starters managed just 5.2 innings in the first two games of the series.
The Aug. 6 date slides into what had been a scheduled off-day between road series against the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies.
For now, Toronto returns home for a three-game series against the Astros, beginning with starter Shane Bieber's season debut on Monday (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT).
