While the Toronto Blue Jays play a weekend series in Detroit, Daulton Varsho will be suiting up for a team representing another border city.
The Blue Jays centre-fielder is slated to continue his rehab in Buffalo with the triple-A Bisons starting Friday, Toronto manager John Schneider told reporters Wednesday, per Keegan Matheson of MLB.com.
Schneider said Varsho likely needs around three games with Buffalo before a potential return. The Bisons are in Columbus, Ohio to face the Clippers this weekend.
Varsho has been on the IL since June 1 with a hamstring injury. The 29-year-old has played four rehab games with lower-level teams in Florida over the past week. He has hit home runs in his past two games with single-A Dunedin.
Varsho is slashing .207/.240/.543 with eight homers and 20 RBIs in 24 games for Toronto this season.
