The Toronto Blue Jays will not have George Springer in their starting lineup for a second straight game.
Springer will sit for Sunday afternoon's game (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+ 1:30 p.m. ET / 10:30 a.m. PT) against the Philadelphia Phillies after he was a late scratch from Saturday's game.
The 36-year-old was ruled out Saturday with left shoulder tightness, which he's been dealing with for a couple of days, according to Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Per Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling, the Blue Jays are giving Springer another day to manage the shoulder tightness, but there's a good chance he's available to hit off the bench Sunday and to start Monday.
Springer, 36, has played in 86 games this season, slashing .234/.317/.396 in that span to go with 12 homers, 36 RBI and eight stolen bases.
Meanwhile, in other lineup news, the newly acquired and promoted Brett Bateman has been moved up to the leadoff spot for Sunday, which marks just his third MLB game.
The Blue Jays will be looking to complete their third series sweep of the season as they wrap up their three-game set against the Phillies.
