Guerrero, Semien and Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels were the top three vote-getters in balloting by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America and were named finalists on Monday.
The AL MVP will be announced Nov. 18.
Guerrero batted .311 with a league-tying-high 48 homers and 111 RBIs.
Semien won a Gold Glove Award this past weekend. He hit 45 homers — a record for second basemen — and had 102 RBIs.
The Blue Jays extended a qualifying offer to Semien this past weekend, making them eligible to receive compensation if he signs elsewhere.
Ohtani, a two-way player, had 46 homers and 100 RBIs and was 9-2 with a 3.18 ERA as a pitcher.
Josh Donaldson (2015) and George Bell (1987) are the only two Blue Jays to have won the award.
Earlier, Blue Jays left-hander Robbie Ray was named one of three finalists for the AL Cy Young Award.
