The Toronto Blue Jays are getting more clarity on some of their injured players.
Here's a look at updates provided by manager John Schneider before Wednesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.
The outfielder remained out of the starting lineup Wednesday after taking a pitch to the head Monday night.
Schneider said Springer is starting to feel better and did some running on the field in Baltimore before the game. If Springer continues to progress through Thursday's off-day, he'll likely avoid an IL stint.
The catcher has been out with a concussion since getting hit by a foul tip last weekend in Detroit.
If he continues to progress, the Blue Jays will look to get him in a rehab game with triple-A Buffalo by Saturday. Kirk is eligible to be activated from the IL on Sunday.
Andres Gimenez
The second baseman (ankle) is expected to begin running the bases by Friday when the club returns home. A rehab assignment could follow if all goes well.
Yimi Garcia
The key reliever is expected to be a week or so away from throwing.
Garcia has been on the IL with an ankle injury since July 5.
