The Toronto Blue Jays will give the ball back to Kevin Gausman for Game 5 of the American League Championship Series.
Gausman, who threw 5.2 innings of two-run ball against the Seattle Mariners in Game 1, will draw the start in what will either be a game to save the Blue Jays' season or a chance to take a 3-2 series lead, according to Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith.
If Toronto loses Thursday's Game 4, rookie Trey Yesavage will likely be available to pitch out of the bullpen for Game 5, Nicholson-Smith added.
The 34-year-old Gausman cruised through the first five innings of Sunday's Game 1 loss before being chased by a Cal Raleigh homer and a Julio Rodriguez walk. After Rodriguez came around to score on a Jorge Polanco single later in the inning, Gausman's final line showed three hits, two runs, one walk and five strikeouts on 76 pitches.
It was the second start this post-season where Gausman was pulled with two outs in the sixth, as in Game 1 of the ALDS against the New York Yankees, Louis Varland entered and struck out Giancarlo Stanton to escape a bases-loaded jam.
Gausman will face off against Bryce Miller once again, as Seattle announced its Game 1 starter would also return for Game 5.
You can watch as the Blue Jays go for a second straight win in Game 4 on Thursday night, with first pitch scheduled for 8:33 p.m. ET / 5:33 p.m. PT.
