The Toronto Blue Jays have retained a depth pitcher.
Lazaro Estrada cleared waivers and has been assigned to the triple-A Buffalo Bisons, the Blue Jays announced on Monday.
Estrada was designated for assignment on Saturday to clear a 40-man roster spot for recalled outfielder Daz Cameron.
The 27-year-old righty has pitched to a 5.54 ERA with nine strikeouts and 10 walks over 13 innings with the Blue Jays this season.
Estrada primarily served as a starter throughout his minor-league career, but has shortened up to mostly one-to two-inning outings this season. However, he has pitched up to four innings and 67 pitches this season, giving the Blue Jays a valuable bulk option to cover innings if needed.
