The Toronto Blue Jays lost outfielder Joey Loperfido in the sixth inning of Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies.
Loperfido was forced to exit the game after taking a 98.2 m.p.h. fastball off the outside of his right knee from Rockies reliever Angel Chivilli.
After the game, manager John Schneider said that Loperfido left the game due to a right knee contusion and that x-rays came back negative.
The Blue Jays' left fielder was helped off the field by Schneider and team trainer Jose Ministral in visible pain. Myles Straw entered to pinch run and took over the No. 8 spot in Toronto's batting order and in left field.
Loperfido was 1-for-2 with a single in the game before being hit by Chivilli.
The 26-year-old has been a revelation for the Blue Jays since being recalled to the majors on July 6. He entered play Tuesday with a .386/.427/.543 slash line with three home runs and 10 RBIs in 23 games.
