Lourdes Gurriel Jr. experienced tightness in his hamstring last night and is being considered day-to-day, though he may be able to pinch hit on Tuesday against the Boston Red Sox depending on how his pre-game work goes, Toronto Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said.
In the series opener against the Red Sox on Monday night, Gurriel Jr. homered and doubled for a second straight game.
Across 17 games this season, he has 10 RBI while hitting .297/.329/.469.
While Gurriel Jr.'s availability for Tuesday is a bit less certain, other injured Blue Jays remain definitively out.
Hyun Jin Ryu, who has been dealing with a forearm issue, threw a side session to Danny Jansen. Jansen, who remains out with an oblique issue, is beginning to do some tee work.
Meanwhile, Teoscar Hernandez, who has been on the injured list for just over 10 days due to a left oblique strain, will take part in batting practice on the field. Hernandez began his hitting progression last Friday but he remains without a timeline for return.
