The Toronto Blue Jays signed 18 players selected during the 2025 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft in addition to eight undrafted free agents on Monday.
Headlining the list is shortstop JoJo Parker, who was picked eighth overall in the first round. Parker signed for a $6.2 million bonus, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi confirmed last Friday.
The eighth-overall selection in this year's draft had a $6,813,600 slot value. By coming in on an under-slot deal with Parker, the Blue Jays were able spread some of their bonus pool around to their other draft picks.
Parker was MLB Pipeline's ninth-overall ranked prospect in the 2025 draft class out of Purvis High School in Mississippi.
The left-handed hitter is said to come with one of the best hit tools in the draft and won the Gatorade Mississippi Baseball Player of the Year Award in his senior season.
By signing with the Blue Jays, Parker will officially join the pro ranks and forego his commitment to Mississippi State.
Davidi also previously reported that Canadian third baseman and fifth-round pick Tim Piasentin was signed to an above-slot deal of $750,000.
The assigned value for No. 143 overall — Piasentin's draft spot — is $503,800.
The Coquitlam, B.C., native was one of two Canadians selected at the 2025 MLB Draft by the Blue Jays, with Toronto also drafting Micah Bucknam in the fourth round.
Piasentin was ranked 160th by MLB Pipeline, playing out of Foothills Composite High School in Okotoks, Alta.
