Blue Jays' Okamoto, Cease, Varland nominated for All-MLB team

Though the season ended prematurely for the Toronto Blue Jays, there are still individuals who could be up for some recognition from the league.

Blue Jays rookie third baseman Kazuma Okamoto, starting pitcher Dylan Cease and reliever Louis Varland were all put on the short list to make the 2026 All-MLB team.

Okamoto had a strong first year in the majors, belting a Blue Jays rookie record 33 home runs while collecting 92 RBI and a .762 OPS.

Cease figures to be in the running for the American League Cy Young award with an ERA of 2.40 and 239 strikeouts over 169 innings pitched.

Varland tallied 35 saves with and ERA of 1.27 and an 11.9 k/9.

The All-MLB team recognizes the best players in Major League Baseball at their respective positions, regardless of league. A first and second team will be selected. The designated hitter spot is included. For pitchers five starters and two relievers are chosen per team.
