The Toronto Blue Jays are swapping southpaws.
One day after making his MLB debut, Ricky Tiedemann has been sent back to the triple-A Buffalo Bisons while Brendon Little was reinstated from the paternity list, the Blue Jays announced Sunday.
A former Blue Jays top prospect, Tiedemann's development was derailed by numerous injuries, including Tommy John surgery, which sidelined him for most of 2024 and all of 2025.
He made his long-awaited debut Saturday, when he struck out two batters against the New York Yankees and walked none, also allowing one run on two hits over 1.2 innings.
Tiedemann, 23, had made only seven minor-league appearances this season after missing time due to elbow soreness and neck discomfort, pitching to a 6.43 ERA with 11 strikeouts and two walks over seven innings.
Meanwhile, Little struggled at the start of this season before being sent down to the minors, but has seemed to turn a corner since being recalled in late July, pitching to a 2.53 ERA with 15 strikeouts and nine walks over 10.2 innings.
The 30-year-old still has a 9.98 ERA on the season, but if Little can recapture the form that saw him lead all left-handed relievers with 91 strikeouts in 2025, it would be a big boost to a Toronto bullpen that is tied for the MLB lead with 67.2 innings pitched in August.
