Gurriel Jr. started 49 games in left for the Blue Jays in 2020, recording three assists and just one error in 104 fielding chances. He ranked tied for second among qualified American League left fielders in Fangraphs’ Ultimate Zone Rating metric (1.2).
This is the first time the 27-year-old has been nominated to win a Gold Glove Award. He is up against Royals’ Alex Gordon and Astros’ Kyle Tucker.
All Gold Glove winners (there is one for each position in both leagues) will be named on the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 3.
