Blue Jays place Hatch on 10-day IL, reinstate Espinal and Soria

Watch as Brad Fay and Joe Siddall break down the Minnesota Twins win over the Toronto Blue Jays and what went wrong for Thomas Hatch and the offence.

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed right-handed pitcher Thomas Hatch on the 10-day injured list with right hamstring tendonitis, the team announced Friday.

Hatch appeared to be in some discomfort after leaving Thursday's game against the Minnesota Twins. The 26-year-old threw 30 pitches over 1.2 innings, giving up three runs on one hit with three walks and one strikeout.

Toronto also reinstated infielder Santiago Espinal (right hip flexor strain) from the injured list and right-handed pitcher Joakim Soria from the family medical emergency list. Both will be active for Friday's game.

Infielder Kevin Smith was optioned to triple-A Buffalo.

The Blue Jays continue their push for the post-season Friday with the second of a four-game series against the Twins. Watch the game live on Sportsnet starting at 8 p.m. ET.
