Kirk left Saturday’s game against the Atlanta Braves with hip discomfort. The rookie backstop had been heating up at the plate in recent days, including a multi-homer performance on Friday.
Milone logged 2.1 innings against the Braves on Saturday, surrendering four runs on six hits. The 34-year-old southpaw has served as a bulk reliever out of Charlie Montoyo’s bullpen, pitching to a 6.43 ERA over six appearances.
Castro was claimed off waivers from the Detroit Tigers in the off-season and has impressed with 7.1 scoreless innings and nine strikeouts.
Stripling draws the start against Atlanta on Sunday after being sidelined since April 8 with forearm tightness. The former all-star has struggled to a 7.56 ERA in two starts in 2021.
Kay has made one MLB appearance this season while Adams has never appeared in a game above the double-A level.
First pitch Sunday between the Blue Jays and Braves is scheduled for 1:07 p.m. ET on Sportsnet.
