The Toronto Blue Jays are down another reliever.
Left-hander Joe Mantiply has been placed on the 15-day injured list with left knee inflammation. Right-hander Chase Lee was recalled from triple-A in a corresponding move.
Mantiply, 35, has appeared in 17 games for the Blue Jays this season, most recently on Sunday against the Tigers. A nine-year MLB veteran, he has a 2.04 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 17.2 innings this season.
Lee has a 3.66 ERA in 15 appearances at triple-A this season, with three saves. The 27-year-old has also made one appearance with the Blue Jays this season, when he allowed one home run and recorded four outs against the Boston Red Sox on April 27.
Mantiply is the second Blue Jays reliever to go on the injured list this week. Right-hander Tommy Nance was added to the IL on Sunday with right forearm discomfort.
