Blue Jays place Teoscar Hernandez on 10-day IL, recall Gosuke Katoh

Hazel Mae and Arden Zwelling discuss how the Jays will manage their outfield with Teoscar Hernandez being placed on the IL with an oblique strain and break down the degree of difficulty on the 3 home runs hit by Vladimir Guerrero Jr last night.

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed outfielder Teoscar Hernandez on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.

Hernandez had an MRI after leaving Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees with left side discomfort. After taking a big cut on a swing in the sixth inning, Hernandez held his left side. He got back in the batter's box and hit a grounder, holding his left side again while making his way slowly down the baseline.

Hernandez slashed .296/.346/.524 with 32 home runs and 116 RBIs last season. The 29-year-old was off to a good start this year, hitting .333 with one homer and three RBIs in six games.

The team recalled Gosuke Katoh from triple-A Buffalo after he was optioned on April 10 in order to make room for Bradley Zimmer to join the team. Katoh has not appeared in a game this season with the Blue Jays.
