Blue Jays prospect Alek Manoah throws five scoreless frames in triple-A

Charlie Montoyo talked about the pitching performance of Alek Manoah in Triple-A and how he handled the pressure of having Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins in the stands.

Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect Alek Manoah had another stellar outing in triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.

Manoah pitched six scoreless innings in the Buffalo Bisons' win over the Rochester Red Wings, allowing just one hit and two walks with five strikeouts in the game.

The 23-year-old Manoah was at the centre of a social-media frenzy last week, when he struck out a whopping 12 batters in his triple-A debut against the Worcester Red Sox. He continued to show off his powerful fastball on Wednesday, in a game that included a six-pitch first inning.

Manoah is currently ranked sixth in the Blue Jays' prospect list. A West Virginia University product, he was drafted in the first round in 2019.
