Chay Yeager's season is over before it began.
The Toronto Blue Jays pitching prospect will undergo elbow surgery and miss the rest of the year, Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling reported on Wednesday.
Yeager visited with Dr. Keith Meister on Tuesday after experiencing discomfort in his right elbow, per Zwelling.
The 24-year-old from Fort Wayne, Ind., has spent three seasons in the minors, appearing in 90 games across the Florida Complex League, single-A, high-A and double-A with a 3.97 ERA and 113 strikeouts over 118 innings.
He was originally selected by the Blue Jays in the 12th round of the 2023 draft out of Pasco-Hernando State Junior College in Florida.
