The Toronto Blue Jays have made a pair of roster moves on the margins.
Yohendrick Piñango and CJ Van Eyk have been recalled from the triple-A Buffalo Bisons and will be active for the Blue Jays' game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, the team announced.
Jonatan Clase was placed on the 10-day injured list with left plantar fasciitis, and Lázaro Estrada was optioned to Buffalo as the corresponding moves.
Clase was a late scratch on Tuesday due to left foot discomfort, which developed during his pre-game running work, the Blue Jays announced.
Piñango, 24, has slashed .267/.313/.413 with five home runs and 20 RBIs this season in 51 major-league games. He will slot in fifth in the Blue Jays' batting order and man left field on Wednesday night.
The left-handed hitting outfielder was part of Toronto's return from the Chicago Cubs for Nate Pearson at the 2024 trade deadline.
Meanwhile, Clase has excelled in his short time with the Blue Jays this season. The switch-hitting outfielder has two home runs, six RBIs and a .273/.360/.545 slash line in nine games.
Clase, 24, was also acquired at the 2024 trade deadline in the package Toronto got for reliever Yimi García, who later re-signed with the Blue Jays.
Estrada was occupying a long-relief role for the Blue Jays and has a 4.82 ERA with six strikeouts and five walks over 9.1 innings this season.
Van Eyk, a right-handed starter, can also provide length if needed. The 27-year-old made his MLB debut for the Blue Jays on July 17, tossing two scoreless innings to close out a blowout loss to the White Sox.
