Barnes was acquired by the Blue Jays from the New York Mets back in July in exchange for pitching prospect Troy Miller. In appearances with the Blue Jays, the 31-year-old has a 6.00 ERA with 13 strikeouts.
In 14 appearances in triple-A Buffalo, Barnes has a 0.63 ERA with 10 strikeouts while holding batters to a .146 average in 14.1 innings pitched.
The Blue Jays also announced that veteran infielder Jake Lamb had cleared release waivers. Lamb was claimed off waivers by the Jays from the White Sox on Sept. 3 and appeared in 12 games for Toronto, recording four hits and six RBIs over that span.
