The Toronto Blue Jays have made an adjustment to their pitching staff ahead of Wednesday night's game against the Texas Rangers.
Righty Dillon Tate has been recalled from triple-A Buffalo and in a corresponding move, fellow righty Luis Frias has been optioned to triple-A, the team announced Wednesday.
Tate, 30, was claimed off the waivers from the Baltimore Orioles on Sept. 1. In 29 appearances in MLB this season with Baltimore, the reliever had a 2-1 record, 4.59 ERA and 23 strikeouts over 33.1 innings pitched.
After being claimed by the Blue Jays, the Harbor City, Calif., native was optioned to triple-A, where he made five appearances, giving up one run over five innings and striking out five. Overall this season, he has a 2.08 ERA in the minors.
Frias, 26, was claimed by the Blue Jays off waivers from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Aug. 10. He has made four appearances with Toronto this season and carries a 21.60 ERA over 3.1 innings pitched.
