The Toronto Blue Jays are making some moves ahead of their final series of the season.
Right-handed pitcher John Klein has been recalled from triple-A Buffalo, and in a corresponding move, fellow righty CJ Van Eyk was optioned to the Blue Jays' spring training complex, the team announced Friday ahead of the opener of their series against the Cincinnati Reds (7:07 p.m. ET on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+).
Klein was acquired by Toronto in a deadline trade that sent Jeff Hoffman to the Minnesota Twins.
The 24-year-old has yet to debut with the Blue Jays this season, having spent his time at triple-A since the deadline deal. He made his major-league debut this year with the Twins, making three appearances while pitching to a 4.15 ERA in 4.1 innings of relief.
With the Bisons, Klein has a 7.66 ERA in 22.1 innings over eight appearances (five starts).
Van Eyk, meanwhile, debuted with the Blue Jays this season. He has a 5.40 ERA over 11.2 innings in five appearances (one start).
