The Toronto Blue Jays are adding left-handed help to their bullpen.
Canadian lefty Adam Macko has been recalled from triple-A Buffalo.
In a corresponding move, Toronto designated right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson for assignment.
Macko was initially brought up to the Blue Jays during mid-May, where he recorded a 1.50 ERA with 12 strikeouts over 12 innings pitched in 12 appearances. Of his 12 appearances, the 25-year-old made two starts as an opener and was credited with a win in each of them.
Macko was optioned back to Buffalo on June 9. He had since made four appearances with the Bisons, recording a 4.91 ERA with six strikeouts over 3.2 innings and four appearances.
Toronto acquired Woods Richardson in a trade with the Minnesota Twins on June 3. In three appearances over 10 innings pitched for the Blue Jays, all in relief, he struck out five, walked seven and didn't give up an earned run.
This was Woods Richardson's second stint with the Blue Jays' organization. He was originally in the team's minor league system before he was traded to the Twins in 2021. The 25-year-old made his Major-League debut with Minnesota.
The Blue Jays have dropped their last three straight. They'll continue their series with the Texas Rangers on Friday at 7:07 p.m. ET / 4:07 p.m. PT on Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet+.
