The Toronto Blue Jays have reinstated right-hander Thomas Hatch from the 60-day injured list and assigned him to triple-A Buffalo. To make room for Hatch on the 40-man roster, left-hander Ryan Borucki was reassigned to the 60-day IL.
Hatch has yet to appear in a major league game this season due to an elbow injury on his pitching arm but he has made six starts for Buffalo as part of a rehab assignment. The 26-year-old made 17 appearances for the Blue Jays last season as a rookie, including one start, registering a 2.73 ERA with 23 strikeouts.
Borucki has been out since early May with a left forearm flexor strain. Manager Charlie Montoyo announced on July 3 that Borucki could begin a rehab assignment with Buffalo as soon as this week and he has been throwing live batting practice at the triple-A level. The 27-year-old made 13 relief appearances for the Blue Jays before his injury, posting a 4.05 ERA with 14 strikeouts.
The Blue Jays return to the field Tuesday night on the road in Baltimore against the Orioles. You can watch the game on Sportsnet and SN Now beginning at 7:05 p.m. ET/ 4:05 p.m. PT.
