Mad Max is officially back.
The Toronto Blue Jays reinstated Max Scherzer from the 15-day injured list and designated Connor Seabold for assignment, the team announced.
Scherzer will start the series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday night (7:07 p.m. ET on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+).
Seabold appeared in 16 games with the Blue Jays since being re-acquired from the Detroit Tigers on May 27. The right-handed reliever pitched to a 4.26 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with 15 strikeouts in 19 innings.
Scherzer will be back on a major-league mound for the first time since April 24. He made five starts for Toronto early in the year before going down with right forearm tendinitis and left ankle inflammation. The right-hander struggled with a 9.64 ERA and 1.61 WHIP.
The 41-year-old made two rehab starts with Buffalo, including striking out five in 3.2 innings last Friday.
Scherzer is one strikeout away from becoming the 11th pitcher in MLB history to record 3,500 punchouts.
