Toronto Blue Jays reliever David Phelps will miss the remainder of the 2021 season after undergoing surgery on his right lat on Monday.

Phelps, 30, hasn't pitched since May 5 and was placed on the 10-day injured list the day after. He was later moved to the 60-day IL on May 15. In 11 appearances for the Blue Jays this season, Phelps had a 0.87 ERA and 1.161 WHIP with 15 strikeouts across 10.1 innings.

The St. Louis native signed a one-year, $1.75-million contract with the Blue Jays in February.
