The Toronto Blue Jays will stay on turn with their rotation for their weekend series against the Baltimore Orioles at Rogers Centre.
Chris Bassitt will start the opener on Friday, Max Scherzer will take the hill Saturday and Shane Bieber will get the ball for the finale on Sunday as the Blue Jays continue their quest for a pennant against a division rival.
Scherzer and Bassitt will be pitching on one extra day of rest, while Bieber will be on a standard five-day schedule.
The Orioles have yet to confirm their starters, but Trevor Rogers, Tomiyuki Sugano and Kyle Bradish line up to take the ball for Baltimore barring any changes.
After switching starts with Scherzer the last time through the rotation in the Bronx, Bassitt pitched five strong innings, allowing only six baserunners and two unearned runs. The 36-year-old righty has a 3.97 ERA with 157 strikeouts and 49 walks over 161 innings this season.
Scherzer wasn't as successful as he allowed four runs and had seven batters reach base over 4.1 innings, yet he did strike out eight. The outing raised the three-time Cy Young award winner's season ERA to 4.36 over 14 starts.
Bieber had some struggles with location early against the Astros on Tuesday, allowing three earned runs over 5.2 innings as his ERA climbed to 4.30 on the season.
Bieber, the Blue Jays' marquee trade-deadline acquisition, does have an impressive 25 strikeouts to only three walks through 23 innings pitched as he prepares to make his fifth start after recovering from Tommy John surgery on Sunday.
The Blue Jays (83-61) open the three-game series against the Orioles (67-77) on Friday at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
