Blue Jays' Rowdy Tellez to undergo MRI after experiencing knee discomfort

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Rowdy Tellez will have an MRI Wednesday after experiencing right knee discomfort in Tuesday's victory over the New York Yankees.

Tellez appeared to aggravate his knee while attempting to make a defensive play in foul territory in the eighth inning. He finished the frame but was removed to start the ninth.

The 25-year-old has been instrumental in Toronto's rise up the American League standings, hitting .291 with a .909 OPS through 34 games this season. He has split his time between first base and designated hitter.

An injury to Tellez would be a big blow to a Blue Jays club already missing two of its top offensive weapons in Bo Bichette and Teoscar Hernandez.
