Lazaro Estrada is expected to join the Toronto Blue Jays from triple-A Buffalo, Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith reported.
The 26-year-old has a 4.75 ERA with 66 strikeouts and 21 walks in 60.2 innings as a starter in triple-A.
To make room on the roster, left-handed pitcher Justin Bruihl was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo. Outfielder Anthony Santander was also transferred to the 60-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation.
The Cuban originally signed with Toronto in 2018. Estrada has been hampered by injuries which limited him to 39.1 innings across 2021 and 2022.
Last season, Estrada posted a 3.29 ERA across three level of the minors, topping out at double-A.
