The Toronto Blue Jays have signed right-hander Mike Mayers to a minor-league contract with an invitation to spring training, the team announced Tuesday.
The 32-year-old appeared in six games for the Kansas City Royals in 2023 with a 6.15 ERA in 26.1 innings. He was traded from the Royals to the Chicago White Sox last July for cash considerations, then reported to triple-A Charlotte. In 16 games for the Charlotte Knights, he had a 5.29 ERA in 34 innings.
He was selected in the third round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals. Since then, he's played in the Cardinals, Los Angeles Angels, Royals and White Sox systems.
