Another Toronto Blue Jays pitcher has gone down.
Trade-deadline addition Spencer Arrighetti left his triple-A rehab start on Thursday with the Buffalo Bisons in the third inning after appearing to aggravate an existing right foot injury.
The Blue Jays acquired Arrighetti in the deal that sent Daulton Varsho to the Houston Astros.
He had been off to a strong start in his first appearance in the Blue Jays organization, going 2.1 scoreless innings with two walks, one strikeout and no hits against the Norfolk Tides.
Prior to joining the Blue Jays, he had been on the IL with right-foot nerve irritation.
The Blue Jays were still counting on Arrighetti to provide pitching depth, especially after MLB starter Trey Yesavage went down with a meniscus injury and was placed on the 15-day IL.
Arrighetti has a 4.60 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 87 strikeouts in 88 innings over 17 MLB starts on the season.
The 26-year-old holds a career 4.66 ERA and 1.386 WHIP in 53 appearances at the major-league level.
