Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer is day-to-day after suffering a mild left ankle sprain against the Seattle Mariners Saturday.
Springer suffered the injury while attempting to make a catch at the outfield wall and landed awkwardly on his leg. He was able to walk off the field without assistance but needed help to get down the stairs to the dugout.
“That was a scary moment for the whole team,” manager Charlie Montoyo said after the game. “But the good news is that he’s going to be all right.”
Through 50 games this season, 31-year-old is hitting .274 with 16 home runs and 35 RBIs in 48 games this season. Springer missed significant time to start the season with a quadriceps injury.
Corey Dickerson was brought on to take Springer’s spot in the outfield.
