There will be no George Springer or Justin Turner in the starting lineup for the Toronto Blue Jays when they face the first-place Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.
Springer's usual spot in right field will be filled by Cavan Biggio, while Daniel Vogelbach will get a second consecutive start at DH in place of Justin Turner.
Turner, Springer and Kevin Kiermaier are all under the weather and unable to start.
Danny Jansen is out of the lineup with back spasms. Ahead of the game, the catcher is receiving treatment and the team hopes he will be available off the bench.
Davis Schneider, who had three hits against the Twins the last time he batted leadoff, will hit in that position again.
Bo Bichette, who is struggling this season with a .203 batting average, will hit cleanup for the second game in a row, having collected a hit in that spot on Sunday in the series-conceding defeat to Minnesota.
Manager John Schneider told reporters pre-game that pitchers Yariel Rodriguez and Chad Green threw bullpens in Toronto and felt good. Rodriguez will progress to another side session while the Blue Jays are working through the next steps for Green.
Bowden Francis will start for triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday and throw two innings or 40 to 45 pitches.
José Berríos gets the start for the Blue Jays (18-22), currently last in the American League East, as they take on the Orioles (26-13) at Camden Yards. That game can be seen at 6:30 p.m. ET / 3:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
