Toronto Blue Jays top prospect Ricky Tiedemann did not last a full inning in his first start with double-A New Hampshire after a three-month injury absence on Friday.
Tiedemann gave up three runs on four hits in 0.2 innings against Reading, a Philadelphia Phillies affiliate, before he was pulled. He threw 31 pitches with 18 strikes.
Tiedemann previously made three rehab appearances at lower levels after leaving a double-A start with left biceps inflammation on May 4. The 20-year-old left-hander didn't give up a run in the first three rehab appearances and totalled 18 strikeouts over eight innings.
A third-round pick of the Blue Jays in 2021, Tiedemann shot up prospect rankings after a strong 2022 season.
Before his injury earlier this year, he had a 4.97 ERA over four double-A starts. He struck out 23 hitters over 12.2 innings but also walked seven.
