As Opening Day gets closer, the Toronto Blue Jays continue to get their pitching staff up to speed.
On Tuesday, ahead of a spring game against the Atlanta Braves, Blue Jays manager John Schneider provided injury updates to some of their key arms heading into the 2026 campaign, including Trey Yesavage and Ricky Tiedemann.
According to Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling, while Yesavage remains away from in-game action, the 22-year-old is set to throw a two-inning simulated game against minor-leaguers on Wednesday.
The Blue Jays are easing Yesavage into his first full season in the Majors after a rookie campaign that saw him shoot up from single-A Dunedin all the way to logging 139.2 total innings in MLB, including 27.2 during Toronto’s post-season run.
As it stands, there are still no plans to get Yesavage into spring training games, but he is "building up" to get into Grapefruit League play, per Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith.
Tiedemann, meanwhile, resumed throwing on Tuesday after taking some time off due to left elbow soreness. He has yet to pitch for the Blue Jays this spring.
Formerly the club's top prospect, Tiedemann missed all of 2025 after undergoing Tommy John surgery the previous summer.
The Blue Jays also provided slight updates to Shane Bieber (forearm) and Yimi Garcia (elbow), both of whom have yet to throw off the mound as they recover from injuries.
Earlier in the spring, Schneider said the plan was for Bieber to have a slower ramp-up this spring after the Blue Jays announced he was dealing with arm fatigue in early February.
Surgery was not required, and Bieber is expected to pitch early this season. A deadline acquisition last year for the Jays, Bieber returned from Tommy John surgery last August.
Garcia, on the other hand, is unlikely to be ready for Opening Day after undergoing elbow surgery in September. He told Sportsnet's Shi Davidi in February that he is "a little behind" in his progression, but that he's feeling better now than he did last season.
