Blue Jays' Trevor Richards active for Wednesday's game vs. Orioles

Newly acquired Toronto Blue Jays reliever Trevor Richards has reported to the team and will be active for Wednesday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.

To make room on the roster, the Blue Jays optioned right-hander Trent Thornton to triple-A Buffalo.

Richards was acquired by the Blue Jays from the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday along with minor-league pitcher Bowden Francis in exchange for first baseman Rowdy Tellez.

Richards has a 3.69 ERA and 1.137 WHIP with 41 strikeouts in 31.2 innings with the Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays this season.

In 26 appearances for the Blue Jays this season, the 27-year-old Thornton has a 4.78 ERA and 1.434 WHIP across 37.2 innings.
