Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trevor Richards will start the opener of a season-ending doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, the team announced.

Casey Lawrence has been recalled by the team to be the 29th man for both games of Wednesday's doubleheader. The 34-year-old has an 8.04 ERA in five games with the Blue Jays this season and a 9-5 record with a 2.79 ERA in 23 games in Triple-A with the Buffalo Bisons.

The Blue Jays have nothing to play for in the standings and figure to be limiting key workloads of key arms prior to the wild-card playoff series against the Seattle Mariners, Friday through Sunday at Rogers Centre.

Richards has opened three games for the Blue Jays this year, while making his other 58 appearances out of the bullpen.

The Blue Jays have not announced a starter for Game 2 of the doubleheader.
