Trey Yesavage's first experience at All-Star Weekend was short but sweet.
The Toronto Blue Jays' top pitching prospect entered Saturday's Futures Game in the top of the third inning for the American League and struck out St. Louis Cardinals prospect JJ Wetherholt on four pitches.
That was all for Yesavage on the afternoon.
The 21-year-old punched out Wetherholt on a check swing, using his cutter to set down the Cardinals' top prospect.
Yesavage earned his way to the Futures Game by posting a 3.19 ERA over 67.2 innings while rocketing up three levels, currently pitching for double-A New Hampshire.
Toronto's 2024 first-rounder currently is tied for second among all minor leagues in strikeouts, sitting at 111 entering play Saturday.
