Trey Yesavage was back on a mound on Wednesday.
The Toronto Blue Jays starter threw 35 pitches in a two-inning simulated game against minor-leaguers, he told reporters.
"It was good to be back out there, defence behind me, facing a lineup. I'm happy with just getting to play baseball," Yesavage said.
Yesavage added that he doesn't know what the next step in his build-up will be.
The Blue Jays are easing Yesavage into his first full season in the majors after a rookie campaign that saw him shoot up from single-A Dunedin all the way to logging 41.2 total innings in MLB, including 27.2 during Toronto’s post-season run.
Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith reported on Sunday that there are still no plans to get Yesavage into spring-training games, but he is "building up" to get into Grapefruit League play.
The Jays open the 2026 season on March 27 at Rogers Centre against the Athletics.
