Trey Yesavage's prep for the 2026 season is coming along slowly.
The Toronto Blue Jays starter threw 35 pitches over two innings of a minor-league game on Monday, Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling reported.
His outing Monday comes five days after he threw 35 pitches against minor-leaguers in his first appearance on a mound this spring.
The Blue Jays are easing Yesavage into his first full season in the majors after a rookie campaign that saw him shoot up from single-A Dunedin all the way to logging 41.2 total innings in MLB, including 27.2 during Toronto’s post-season run.
Sportsnet's Ben Nicholson-Smith reported last week that there are still no plans to get Yesavage into spring-training games, but he is "building up" to get into Grapefruit League play.

The Blue Jays begin their ramp up to the 2026 with spring training action in Florida. Sportsnet will broadcast 23 spring training games on TV and Sportsnet+.

Time is running out, however, as the Blue Jays have just five games remaining on their spring-training schedule before they open the regular season on March 27 at Rogers Centre against the Athletics.
In other Jays pitching news, Dylan Cease threw five innings against minor-leaguers on Monday.
He told reporters that he'd ideally like one more game before the end of Jays camp, but was feeling satisfied after Monday's outing.
"I feel like I made really great strides today," Cease said. "… I really like where I'm at right now."
Cease last pitched on Tuesday against the Atlanta Braves when he threw three shutout innings.
