The Atlanta Braves continued to backfill their injured rotation on Sunday.
Atlanta acquired right-handed starter Erick Fedde from the St. Louis Cardinals for a player to be named later or cash considerations, the team announced.
Fedde, 32, was designated for assignment on Wednesday after struggling to a 5.22 ERA over 20 starts in 2025.
Over his last two starts, he allowed 14 earned runs on 18 hits and five walks in 8.2 innings while fanning just two opponents.
St. Louis traded for Fedde on July 29 last year from the Chicago White Sox in an eight-player deal that also included the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Fedde's 2024 season represented a career best as he recorded a 3.30 ERA over 31 starts and 177.1 innings with the White Sox and Cardinals.
For his career, which began with six years in Washington before joining Chicago last season, Fedde holds a 33-52 record and 4.87 ERA over 153 games.
In a corresponding move to make room for Fedde on their roster, the Braves moved Grant Holmes to the 60-day injured list.
Holmes' injury marked another setback for Atlanta's starters, as now, all five members of the Braves' opening day rotation are currently on the IL.
